The Ones You Can't Plan For

I never ask couples to go into the water. Nadia and Tom just did it. One moment we were shooting on dry sand and the next Tom had picked her up mid-wave and the ocean exploded around them and she was laughing so hard she could barely hold on. That image is the whole session in one frame.

This is what couples photography looks like when both people stop thinking about the camera. No poses, no direction, just two people who are genuinely happy together in a place they love. The California coast at golden hour does the rest.

Point Dume in Malibu is one of my favorite locations for couples sessions on the West Coast. The cliffs, the waves, the warm late afternoon light that bounces off the water and wraps around everything, it creates an environment where real moments happen naturally and quickly.
