A Joshua Tree Engagement Session

Maya and Sebastian drove out from Los Angeles on a Saturday afternoon with no real agenda beyond showing up and spending a few hours together somewhere beautiful. That's exactly the energy an engagement session should have, and it shows in every frame.

We worked through the boulder fields as the light shifted from sharp afternoon to that warm, directional glow that the high desert does so well in the late fall. Hannah wore a deep burgundy dress that worked perfectly against the pale granite and dry pine needles. Eli threw his jacket over his shoulder and looked at her the way he always does and I just kept shooting.

Joshua Tree is one of my favorite locations for engagement sessions near Los Angeles. Two hours from the city, completely different world. The granite formations, the desert vegetation, the quality of late afternoon light at elevation, it all combines into something that photographs beautifully without requiring any effort.
